Author Guidelines
Thank you for considering the Journal of Educational Computing and Technology (JECOTECH) as a venue for publishing your research. Authors are requested to carefully read and follow these guidelines before submitting their manuscripts.
- Scope of the Journal
JECOTECH publishes high-quality, original research in the fields of educational computing, educational technology, computer science education, information technology education, artificial intelligence in education, digital learning, learning analytics, multimedia learning, instructional design, smart learning environments, educational data mining, virtual and augmented reality, game-based learning, STEM education, and other emerging technologies related to education.
Only manuscripts that fall within the journal's scope will be considered for review.
- Types of Manuscripts
JECOTECH accepts the following categories of manuscripts:
- Original Research Articles
- Research and Development (R&D)
- Design-Based Research
- Systematic Literature Reviews
- Meta-Analysis
- Conceptual Papers
- Case Studies
- Short Communications
- Originality
Submitted manuscripts must:
- Be original and unpublished.
- Not be under consideration by another journal.
- Be free from plagiarism.
- Comply with the journal's Publication Ethics.
All manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.
- Language
Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally proofread before submission.
- Manuscript Preparation
Authors should prepare manuscripts using the official JECOTECH Article Template.
The manuscript should include the following sections:
- Title
- Author(s)
- Affiliation(s)
- Corresponding Author
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Introduction
- Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgments (optional)
- Funding Information (if applicable)
- Conflict of Interest
- References
- Manuscript Formatting
Authors should follow these formatting requirements:
- Paper Size: A4
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 11 pt
- Line Spacing: 1.15
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
- File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
The manuscript should generally contain between 5,000 and 8,000 words, excluding references.
- Title
The title should:
- Be concise and informative.
- Not exceed 20 words.
- Reflect the main contribution of the research.
- Avoid abbreviations whenever possible.
- Abstract
The abstract should:
- Contain 200–250 words.
- Be written as a single paragraph.
- Clearly describe the background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
- Avoid citations and undefined abbreviations.
- Keywords
Provide 3–5 keywords arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons.
Example:
Artificial Intelligence; Digital Learning; Educational Technology; Learning Analytics.
- References
JECOTECH uses the APA (7th Edition) citation style.
Authors are encouraged to:
- Use reference management software such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote.
- Include recent and relevant references.
- Ensure that at least 80% of references are journal articles published within the last ten years.
Whenever available, authors should include the DOI for each reference.
- Figures and Tables
Figures and tables should:
- Be numbered consecutively.
- Include descriptive captions.
- Be cited in the text.
- Be of high resolution.
- Not duplicate information presented in the text.
- Ethical Considerations
Research involving human participants must comply with institutional and international ethical standards.
Authors are responsible for obtaining:
- Ethical approval (if applicable).
- Participant consent.
- Permission to reproduce copyrighted materials.
- Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that may influence the research.
If there is no conflict of interest, authors should state:
"The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this article."
- Funding Statement
Authors should acknowledge all financial support received for the research.
If no funding was received, please state:
"This research received no external funding."
- Submission Procedure
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the JECOTECH Online Journal System (OJS).
The submission package should include:
- Manuscript file.
- Cover Letter.
- Declaration of Originality.
- Copyright Agreement (if required).
- Peer Review Process
All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two independent reviewers.
Editorial decisions are based on:
- Originality
- Scientific quality
- Methodological rigor
- Significance
- Clarity
- Relevance to the journal's scope
Possible editorial decisions include:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
- Copyright
Authors retain copyright of their work while granting JECOTECH the right of first publication.
Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) License unless otherwise stated.
- Open Access Policy
JECOTECH provides immediate open access to all published articles to support the global exchange of knowledge.
Readers may freely read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full texts of published articles in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons License.
- Publication Ethics
Authors must comply with the ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Any form of plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or unethical research practices will result in immediate rejection or retraction.
